Maio (island)
Maio (island) – named after the month it was first discovered by the Portuguese in 1460, this is perhaps the least-visited island in Cape Verde. This island’s terrain is realtively flat and arid like the islands of Sal and Boavista. Maio’s saving grace is its turquoise blue beaches. Adventure tourists can rent out safari jeeps and tour around the island.
