Palácio do Povo (Rua Franz Fanon, Mindelo, São Vicente)

Palácio do Povo (Rua Franz Fanon, Mindelo, São Vicente) – this 19th century building was once the Palácio do Governador (Governor’s Palace) whose architectural style is reminiscent of buildings in Goa, India. Its current name translates into “Palace of the People” (in keeping with the socialist government that ruled Cape Verde upon independence from Portugal in 1975).
